To Ambani, it felt like $470.
Early in 2022 Reliance Industries bought a ten-bedroom, $80 million beachfront villa on Dubai's Palm Jumeirah for Anant Ambani, the youngest son of chairman Mukesh Ambani. It was the most expensive home ever sold in Dubai.
That October, Bloomberg reported, Mukesh Ambani broke his own record with a $163 million mansion on the same island, bought from the family of Kuwaiti tycoon Mohammed Alshaya.
Together the two houses cost $243 million, enough to feed about 2.2 million hungry kids three meals a day for a whole year. To Ambani, they cost what about $470 costs a typical family.
The $80 million villa was bought by Reliance Industries for Anant Ambani; the $163 million mansion was reported by Bloomberg as Mukesh Ambani's purchase. Both set Dubai residential price records at the time.
